EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

Education for Social Justice Programs aim at developing proactive approach in fighting prejudice and stereotypes, overcoming institutionalized prejudice and establishing a democratic civil society, relieved of oppression, discrimination and violence.
The purpose of these programs is increasing knowledge and competence of all relevant societal (f)actors (the ones holding power and privileges, and the possibility to form the public opinion) and citizens, all in the course of developing a climate of equality and mutual respect. The programs promote the principle of equality (all people are of equal importance and societal institutions are to grant them equal treatment) and an educational model, to be applied at educational system at large, based of the right to quality education for all.
The conceptual and theoretical framework for the adult and children programs consists of Naming, Voicing and Ally Building. We work on cognitive, psychological and the level of concrete action, thus increasing the core knowledge, acquiring new terminology, developing individual and group self-esteem, changing attitudes, designing concrete mobilizing activities – for both dominant and oppressed groups and individuals.
